SERVICES

A substantial supply of Test Chips is maintained by the Facility. However, GeneChips are not routinely stocked by the Facility, but are ordered as needed.  Users should be aware that array chips routinely take 2 weeks for delivery and their usability expires in approximately 4 to 5 months.
  1. Initiation of work begins when the investigator fills out a “Request For Service FormMS Word or PDF.
  2. Once a potential user has completed the “Request for Service Form” and returns it to the Molecular Genomics Core (MRB 6.160) with his/her samples, he/she will be logged in and given a Molecular Genomics Core (MGC) number.  The request is put in the queue and is completed in sequential number.

  3. From initiation to completion takes approximately 2 weeks.
For details on the process, read our Affy protocol.
  4. Upon completion, an analysis is performed which generates 5 Affymetrix files. Click here for description of files.
  5. The user will receive a copy of the .chp in text format for every chip. The user will also receive .chp files in text format for every comparison (sorted and unsorted) performed by the Facility. Click here for instructions on accessing your text files.
  6. Users can have a copy of the 4 Affymetrix files, but without the Affy software, these files will be useless. If you wish to have them for archival purposes , he/she will need to bring a blank CD with his/her request form. All text files will also be put on the CD and nothing will be transferred to the file server.
